I didn`t think it was until i heard a few talking bout it being a new rule. I guess I'l find out at orientation fri
It's not true. I'm sure that anyone outside of 7 miles of campus would be about 98 or 99% of the enrolled students there.

There isnt enough room on campus as it is, its just not possible for that rule to be real.
I agree Mega,, UVA/Wise campus had the big lottery a year or so ago.. and i know a few students that had been living in the dorms for 3 years 'lost out',,,wonder if the old Wise hospital is finished and ready for housing?
I think it's anybody outside a 25 mile radius.

I think they are working on more housing. But a lot near the college are pushing against it.
Why i don't know.
But what i hear.
It's a college area. You got to expect it. I'd rather see kids live and learn. Than never live at all.
Sell the land to the college and let the college thrive. It's part of Wise Counties future.
Those of us who have worked in off-campus student housing know the problems to be expected with that type of housing.
The housing that keeps getting nixed is off-campus private housing.
The students at UVA-Wise do need more housing, but at this point in time I think it should be built by the college on the college's campus. Wise isn't ready for full off-campus student communities.

I don't remember saying that anywhere. You don't turn lose a teen or pre-adult in any situation.
The problem is those near the college will not sell the land.
To me it would seem better for them to. Or for the college to locate housing elsewhere in Wise, while having to pay for those to watch over it.
Just my opinion but after talking to a few on the BOS they have the same idea.
Money talks and those near the college know it. Even if the County tries to help them to set realistic ideas, in terms
of money to be realistic.
Who wants to pay a fortune for a small chunk of land. These people are hurting themselves in the long run.
The college and those involved will just provide off campus housing as close as possible and to those who aren't money happy or crazy.
It will happen to much has been invested in the new programs, for it not to happen.
